Doing business with Government is about to get even easier for Territory businesses with the introduction of a new simpler tendering process on 1 January 2005 .

The new Simple Tender Process will benefit those businesses who tender for Government work with an estimated value of between $10 000 and $50 000.

“The new process will be less time consuming and less costly to businesses,” Mr Stirling said.

“It includes a revised Request for Tender form, reduced turnaround times, and contracts awarded through purchase orders.

“The Simple Tender Process is part of continuing improvements by Government to the procurement process to assist business.

“Other initiatives already in place as a result of procurement reform include a reduction in the public liability requirement for “off the shelf” goods from $10 million to $500 000, and the implementation of the 30 day payment policy which gives businesses the ability to claim interest on undisputed NT Government accounts not paid within 30 days.

“Businesses are invited to attend seminars across the Territory which will explain the new simple tender process and answer any questions.”
