The second round of the Grass Roots Sports Grants is now open, with applications closing late January 2005 Acting Sport and Recreation Minister Paul Henderson announced today.

“The Grass Roots Grants are released twice a year, and are designed to assist clubs and communities to establish innovative projects that promote participation in sport and physically active recreation,” said Mr Henderson.

“Pretty much any non-profit group can apply for up to $3000 for such projects.

“They are available to support activities such as inaugural events; new ‘come and try’ events; projects targeted at new member groups or develop new services; and the provision of new resources for both existing and new programs.

“Staff at the Office of Sport and Recreation are available to assist applicants accessing the Grass Roots grants.”
