Six Central Australians have featured in this year’s list of top 20 Northern Territory Certificate of Education students, Chief Minister and Acting Minister for Employment, Education and Training Clare Martin said today. “This is the best ever result for Central Australia ,” she said. “The top student from Central Australia – Saul Wakerman of the Charles Darwin University Senior Secondary College , scored 97 out of 100 to be the NT’s second highest achiever. Only Rifly Rafiudeen from the Casuarina Senior College in Darwin scored more, with 100. “Four Charles Darwin University Senior Secondary students made the top 12. They are Jacqueline Bens with 95, Lucy McHugh with 93 and Jenna Woodward with 91. “Other Centralians in the top 20 include Ivans Casseeram from St Philip’s College who scored 94, and Peta Steller from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College with 90. “Seventeen Central Australian students achieved merits (20 out of 20 for a particular subject), including 13 from CDU Senior Secondary College . “Saul Wakerman, the only student from Central Australia to receive two – achieved his perfect scores in Economics and Mathematical Studies. He also studied Biology, Physics and English Studies. “Saul plans to work and travel next year, and intends to study Media and Communication at a university in either Sydney or Melbourne, in 2006. “This is a fantastic effort from students in Central Australia . “I wish them all the very best as they move onto the next phase of their life.”
