ROBYN LAMBLEY - MINISTER FOR ALCOHOL REHABILITATION
ROBYN LAMBLEY - MINISTER FOR HEALTH
Health Minister, Robyn Lambley, visited Katherine today for meetings with key front-line health practitioners and staff at the hospital, renal unit, Government Centre and Venndale Rehabilitation Centre.
Mrs Lambley said she plans to visit as many health facilities across the Territory as she can in coming months and is keen to inspect first hand services in the Katherine region.
“A particular focus is the provision of renal services and I welcomed the opportunity to meet and talk with staff about service demand and delivery,” Mrs Lambley said.
“I also toured Venndale Rehabilitation Centre and was impressed at the services on offer and the work being done to combat alcohol abuse in the town.
“With a budget in excess of $1.25 billion in the Northern Territory this financial year, Health is by far the largest single Government Department.
“As Health Minister I want to meet with frontline staff across the Territory to ensure the money is going to the right places and services.
“I would like to see infrastructure and services in Katherine improved but with a $5.5 billion debt legacy left by Labor, the Government’s capacity to deliver substantial improvements in the short term is seriously restricted.
“It is important that as Health Minister I gain a strong understanding of where that money is spent and the impact of the services it delivers.”
Mrs Lambley today also toured Pine Creek Health Clinic and Adelaide River Health Clinic.
