Supporting Territorians Who Support Our Lifestyle

A series of free seminars aimed at enhancing the skills of sport and recreation organisations will kick off in Darwin tonight.

Minster for Sport and Recreation, Kon Vatskalis said the seminars recognise the integral role sport and recreation organisations have in maintaining our great Territory lifestyle.

“Territorians who gift their time and effort, on both a professional and volunteer basis, are the backbone of the lifestyle that makes the Territory such a great place to live,” Mr Vatskalis said.

“Providing the opportunity for these clubs and organisations to further skill their members will help ensure that they continue to flourish and provide Territorians with a range of healthy and enjoyable lifestyle options.

"There is a vast array of topics which are integral to the successful running of sport and recreation activities and I encourage organisations to get behind the seminars and take advantage of hearing some of the great guest speakers," Mr Vatskalis said.

The free seminars are on from 21-23 November in Kantillas at Marrarra and feature a range of guest speakers and topics including:

·          Making the most of your volunteers

·          Club survival

·          Working with the media

·          Volunteer opportunities at the Arafura Games

·          Money management, licensing and gaming issues for fundraising
