Afl To Pack Out Tio Stadium – Again

Port Adelaide and Geelong Cats will clash at Marrara’s TIO Stadium Saturday night in the race for the pre-season premiership.

Territory Sports Minister, Kon Vatskalis, was presented with his very own Port Adelaide guernsey today ahead of Saturday’s big game.

“The Martin Government has made top class AFL action a permanent fixture on the Territory sporting calendar – it’s become an important part of our great lifestyle,” said Mr Vatskalis.

“Another capacity crowd is expected to turn up and cheer on their respective team.

“This is the first year of another 3-year deal the Martin Government struck with the AFL to bring footy back to the Territory.

“Last month, we had 13,000 pack out TIO Stadium, witnessing Essendon knock off the Indigenous All Stars.

“Next week, the Adelaide Crows will play the West Coast Eagles in Alice Springs in a preliminary final replay.

“Then in June, the Western Bulldogs - or as we prefer to call them, the Darwin Doggies - will square off against the Fremantle Dockers for the four points.

“There is so much AFL action in the Territory it’s almost like living in Melbourne – except the weather is better!

“Under the Martin Government the Territory has an economy and lifestyle that is the best in Australia.”

Free buses will be available to get fans to and from the game on Saturday night.

The free public buses will commence at 5:00pm and run at 30 minute intervals from Casuarina, Darwin and Palmerston bus interchanges following usual routes until 7:30pm.

The return services from the game will start at 9:30pm.
