The Territory Government today announced a $10,000 contribution to fly the Tiwi Island Bomber’s down to
Minister for Sport and Recreation Kon Vatskalis said this will be the highest profile game yet for a Territory AFL side, when the Tiwi Island Bombers take on Rumbalara Football Club, a regional Victorian indigenous club, on May 26 at the MCG.
"The Territory Government is backing AFL and local footy by assisting these young indigenous
Territorians to play on the big stage," Mr Vatskalis said.
“The $10,000 is part of $54,000 that has been raised to make this game happen and I would like to thank the other sponsors; Essendon Football Club, ERA, Rio Tinto and TIO.
“Last year some Tiwi kids got a chance to go down and watch the game which attracted a crowd of 58,000, this year they’ll be getting a chance to play in front of that crowd.”
