Minister Signs Up To Doggies

The Minister for Sport and Recreation, Kon Vatskalis, today signed on to be a member of the Lease Plan Western Bulldogs Football Club at TIO Stadium.

Mr Vatskalis said he was proud to become a member of the Western Bulldogs and was the third Sport and Recreation Minister to officially sign up.

“The Northern Territory Government is dedicated to bringing national competition to the Territory and this AFL premiership match between Western Bulldogs and Fremantle will be a close one,” said Mr Vatskalis.

“Our commitment to AFL and the Western Bulldogs will continue as we see a further two years in our current agreement with the AFL delivering national AFL games to the Territory for the next three years.

Minister Vatskalis was welcomed to the club by Western Bulldogs players as well as purebred Australian bulldog ‘PJ’.

“It is fantastic to yet again see our AFL heroes here in the Territory and all the other benefits that come with it," said Mr Vatskalis.

“Not only do fans get to see an AFL premiership match, our children and community benefit from coaching clinics, hospital visits and the like.

“My footy tips are going ok at the moment, there have been a few surprises. Especially considering I am a former West Australian and I have tipped the Doggies to beat the Dockers in tomorrow’s game.

“With the likes of Akermanis and Brad Johnston leading the Western Bulldogs against new Fremantle recruit Chris Tarrant the game will provide non stop action for the crowd.

“I encourage everyone to come down and experience the thrill of an AFL premiership match in the Territory and continue to show the rest of Australia that we love our footy.”

The Northern Territory Government is also putting on free buses to TIO Stadium for the game.

Timetable information is available from www.dpi.nt.gov.au. Tickets for the game are available from the Darwin Entertainment Centre on 8980 3333 or www.darwinentertainment.com.au.

Tickets will also be available at the gates.
