Plan For Palmerston City Centre

The people of Palmerston are being asked to play their part in another important step in the city’s future.

A new plan is already being developed for Palmerston with the help of locals – now they’re being asked to have their say on the city centre.

Member for Brennan James Burke has urged Palmerston residents to participate in the public consultation and provide feedback.

The proposed amendment to the NT Planning Scheme will include Planning Principles and Area Plan for the development of the city centre.

“The Martin Government has proposed planning changes for the city centre to make Palmerston even more vibrant,” Mr Burke said.

“The proposals include an entry point to the centre of the city and more people friendly buildings with ‘active street frontage’.

Member for Drysdale Chris Natt said the improvements would attract more people into the centre of Palmerston.

“Palmerston is the family city and these proposals have the potential to make it even better – but we want to hear what you think,” Mr Natt said.

“The City Centre proposals are part of the Martin Government’s plan for Palmerston’s future.”

“It builds on recent developments in the city centre such as the new Recreation Centre.

Residents can view the proposed planning changes at Palmerston City Council or the Department of Planning and Infrastructure office in Cavanagh Street, Darwin from this Friday September 21.
