It’s been a wonderful start to the New Year for top
Acting Sports Minister, Kon Vatskalis, presented Tahnee with her new NTIS uniform today, congratulating the swimmer on her remarkable achievements.
“This is one very determined young lady who is working hard to make a name in swimming,” said Mr Vatskalis.
“The Territory Government together with the NTIS is delighted to recognise Tahnee’s achievements with a Development Scholarship, enabling her to access the high level training, sports science and expertise of the NTIS.”
In the past, Tahnee wasn’t eligible for a scholarship. However, following an extensive review of the selection criteria NTIS scholarships now ensure elite athletes with a disability like Tahnee are provided with a pathway.
“Tahnee holds six Down Syndrome International Swimming Organisation (DSISO) world records and is currently in training for the 2008 DSISO World Swimming Championships in
