The Territory Government remains committed to enhancing the visitor experience at our National Parks, with infrastructure repair programs underway across the NT.

 

Minister for Parks and Wildlife, Len Kiely, today announced repairs to the popular viewing platform at Kathleen Springs, near Kings Canyon.

 

“The Territory Government places great value on our parks and reserves – that’s why we allocated more than $26 million to improve visitor access and infrastructure.

 

“The recent wet weather has caused damage to some infrastructure at Watarrka National Park, so we’ve allocated $18,000 to have the platform repaired.

 

“The Park is home to part of the George Gill Range - the scenic landscape and rugged ranges, are very popular with tourists and Territory visitors.

 

“The rockholes and gorges are home to many different plant and animal species, making the Park an important conservation area and major attraction of central Australia.

 

 “Work to construct a new handrail assembly and reassemble the platform structure will be carried out by Ross Engineering with repairs expected to be completed early next month.

 

“I look forward to visiting our National Parks throughout the year to see the great work that has been carried out,” Mr Kiely said.
