Delia Lawrie MINISTER FOR PLANNING & LANDS |
The Northern Territory Government is calling for tenders to construct the headworks in Palmerston for the new suburb of Bellamack.
Planning and Lands Minister, Delia Lawrie, said Bellamack is the next major land release for the top end and will provide about 700 new residential housing blocks.
“Palmerston is a fast growing area for families and Bellamack will provide more housing options for people wanting to build their own home,” she said.
“The Northern Territory Government is committed to delivering for Territory families and the Bellamack headworks tender marks another important milestone in the providing more houses.
“Tenders will be open for the next four weeks and I encourage local businesses to apply.
“We are currently assessing development bids and will soon be announcing the successful companies that will develop the new suburb.
“The first blocks of this new suburb are expected to be on the market early next year creating more housing options for people interested in building their own home.
“We know Palmerston is one of the fastest growing areas in the nation and we are building the infrastructure to provide for the growing population.
“This includes the $110 million
As part of the Territory Government’s housing affordability strategy, 15 per cent of the new blocks in Bellamack will be set aside for affordable and public housing.
Another tender was also awarded today to conduct a headworks study for the upcoming Berrimah Farm subdivision and the Berrimah Prison site. This tender was awarded to GHD for $99,000 and will take place over the next year and a half.
“The Territory Government’s strategic land release program is investing in the future of the Territory, while ensuring the life savings of people who have already invested in their own home is protected – it strikes the right balance.” Ms Lawrie said.
