Bellamack Developer Announced

The preferred developer for the new suburb of Bellamack which will deliver at least 700 new homes was announced today by Planning and Lands Minister Delia Lawrie.

Bellamack’s first lots will be ready for sale next year and will provide a range of housing options for Territory families wanting to invest in a new home,” Ms Lawrie said.

“Urban Pacific Limited and Brierty Limited have been selected as the developer for Bellamack, after undergoing an extensive Expression of Interest process, and will now negotiate a Development Agreement with the NT Government soon.

“Importantly, 15% of Bellamack will be set aside for affordable housing, creating terrific new opportunities for people wanting to buy their own home.”

This is Urban Pacific’s first residential development in the Territory and they will be delivering the project with Joint Venture partner, civil contractor Brierty Limited.  Larrakia Development Corporation Pty Limited is a strategic delivery partner to the project and will play a crucial role in development of local business and employment opportunities.

Urban Pacific and Brierty are experienced developers and have worked in partnership on a range of Australian land release projects.

The Consortia is committed to local industry involvement, having outlined a strong local participation plan within their tender response. NT businesses and labour will be utilised as much as possible during the development of the new suburb.

“Bellamack is an important part of the Territory Government’s land release strategy and we’re already investing in new schools, roads and recreation areas to cater for the new residents,” Ms Lawrie said.

“The Territory Government will fast-track the development of Johnston, Zuccoli and Mitchell to deliver another 3000 lots onto the housing market.

“Our economy is strong so it is important that we deliver more land to meet the growing demand to build more housing.

“We’ll release land to meet market demand while not devaluing the investment of people that have already purchased their own home.”

The tender to construct the headworks for Bellamack will be awarded soon.
