Development of
Planning Minister Delia Lawrie today said there was significant interest among Top Enders in the old hospital site’s future.
“The old hospital site has a special place in the hearts of many Territorians because they were either born there or because of its proximity to the former Kahlin Compound,” Ms Lawrie said.
“We want the public – including local residents, youth, historical and cultural groups – to have their say on how the NT Government should progress plans to develop the old hospital site.
“There has been tremendous interest by many Territorians since the Northern Territory Government unveiled plans to develop the old hospital site into a first-class park last month.
“A lot of the interest has focused on the mixture of residential and park land, as well as how the old hospital site's historical values will best be recognised.”
Ms Lawrie said print and radio advertisements would be rolled out from tomorrow to invite comments in writing or online via the www.nt.gov.au/dpi website.
