Minister for Sport and Recreation Karl Hampton today announced that the Northern Territory Government would assist Alice Springs Basketball to fund a new development officer.

 

The Northern Territory Government will provide a $20000 grant directly to the Association to employ a full time development officer in Central Australia.

 

“I am pleased to be able to provide this assistance to the Alice Springs Basketball Association,” Mr Hampton said.

 

“The new position will lead to more opportunities for youth in Alice Springs to participate in organised sporting activities.

 

“Basketball is a very popular sport in Central Australia and the Alice Springs Basketball Association is keen to see it grow and develop.

 

“Providing sport and recreational opportunities for our young people plays an important part in building a safe and healthy community.”
