The Northern Territory Government is calling for applications for the inaugural Bob Plasto Screen Fellowship.
Arts Minister Marion Scyrmgour said this new fellowship, in honour of the late Bob Plasto is open to all Territorians and offers an exciting opportunity for screen practitioners and filmmakers.
“We are committed to supporting the development of the screen industry in the Territory and believe this fellowship of $20 000 will encourage excellence in the industry,” Ms Scrymgour said.
“The fellowship also recognises the great work of Bob Plasto who was a prominent documentary filmmaker from the Territory.
“After a successful career as a journalist with the ABC Bob became an internationally renowned documentary maker, covering contentious issues around the world. He died last year when he was 57.

“The successful Fellow will have the opportunity to follow in Bob’s footsteps and develop new skills and approaches to make a significant contribution to the development of the screen industry in the Territory.
“The Bob Plasto Fellowship offers screen practitioners the opportunity to grow and enhance their skills through formal study, residencies or professional attachments and nationally or international research.”
Applications close on 17 January 2009. All applications will be assessed by an independent specialist panel appointed by the Minister for Arts and Museums.
