Acting Chief Minister Delia Lawrie today congratulated Wally Gallio, Brenton Toy and Robbie Ahmat on their appointments as assistant coaches to the Northern Territory Thunder AFL team.
“Territorians love their footy and we continue to produce top players and coaches at all levels of the game,” Ms Lawrie said.
“I am sure Territorians are looking forward to seeing the Territory Thunder team run out onto TIO Stadium in April for its first game against reigning premiers
“The appointment of Wally Gallio, Brenton Toy and Robbie Ahmat is a great boost to the Thunder team as they have a tremendous amount of both playing and coaching experience.
“Led by head coach Michael McLean I am confident the Thunder team will represent the Territory with pride and do very well.
“I was proud to see the Territory Thunder squad run onto TIO Stadium today for its first training session under the guidance of this experienced coaching staff.
“This first training session for the team is an important milestone and I congratulate all involved with the Northern Territory Thunder side.
“The Northern Territory Government is supporting the Territory Thunder team by providing funding of $200 000 a year for the next five years.”
