Bellamack Development Out On Public Exhibition

Development plans for the first stage of Palmerston’s newest suburb will be on display for the next two weeks.

Planning Minister Delia Lawrie today said Bellamack aims to deliver 700 new homes to the housing market with the first of the allotments set to go on sale later this year.

“The Northern Territory Government has one of the most expansive land release programs in Australia and Bellamack is leading the way in Palmerston,” Ms Lawrie said.

“We have also fast-tracked the development of Johnston, Mitchell and Zuccoli to deliver another 3000 lots to the housing market in Palmerston.

“Bellamack is an important part of the Territory Government’s land release strategy and we’re already investing in new schools, roads and recreation areas to cater for the new residents.

“Importantly, 15% of Bellamack will be set aside for affordable and public housing, creating terrific new opportunities for people wanting to buy their own home.

“I invite Territorians to go to Palmerston City Library or Development Assessment Services at 38 Cavenagh Street, Darwin, to view the first stage of the Bellamack development plans that will create 234 new housing lots and three new areas of open space in Palmerston.”

The first stage of the Bellamack development plans that will deliver 234 lots onto the housing market will be on public exhibition for comment until 6 February 2009.

A development application will then be submitted to the Development Consent Authority for hearing.

A development permit will allow developers Urban Pacific Limited and Brierty Limited to then proceed with stage one of the Bellamack subdidivision.

Larrakia Development Corporation Pty Limited is a strategic delivery partner to the project and will play a crucial role in development of local business and employment opportunities.
