Jobs, Education and Training

Chief Minister Paul Henderson has refreshed his Cabinet to implement the comprehensive reforms underway in the Territory – with the focus to be on jobs.

Mr Henderson said the Territory Government will do everything it can to protect our economy from the global financial crisis.

“Jobs are my number one priority – that’s why I’ve taken on employment, education and training,” Mr Henderson said.

“There is nothing more important for families than being able to put food on the table and pay the mortgage or rent.

“As the Chief Minister of a can-do Government I want fresh ideas and real results – and that’s what this team will deliver.

“Our economy isn’t immune from the global financial crisis – but we are better placed than most – and I want to keep it that way.

“Chris Burns will bring his experience and energy to key economic drivers, Business, Tourism, Trade, Asian Relations and Defence.

“Deputy Leader Marion Scrymgour is the new Minister for Justice and Attorney-General.

Ms Scrymgour will also be the Minister for Racing, Gaming and Licensing, and Alcohol Policy.

“Kon Vatskalis is the new Minister for Health and Alison Anderson has added Arts and Museums to her responsibilities.
