Minister for Sport and Recreation Karl Hampton today announced Northern Territory Government support for Territory sides to compete in the Junior National Rugby League competition.
“Participation of junior rugby league players in a national competition provides great experience and a pathway for future participation at an elite senior level”, Mr Hampton said.
“The NT Government is providing funding of $50 000 to assist the NT Rugby League with costs associated with entering both U16 and U18 teams in the 2009 National competition.

“This initiate will have extensive benefits for our junior rugby league players with development through exposure to national level competition.
“This is one of the best junior age rugby league competitions in the world and our Territory players will be watched by NRL talent scouts.”

As part of the agreement, the Gold Coast Titans and Cronulla Sharks will take part in coaching and community events during their stay in the Territory.
