Chief Minister Paul Henderson will tonight attend the official launch of the Northern Territory Thunder.

 

“The Territory has a long and proud history associated with AFL footy and a Territory side in the AFLQ competition – the NT Thunder - is the next chapter in this tradition,” Mr Henderson

 

“The Territory Government has been fully supportive of efforts to field a Territory team and its very exciting that we’re now so close to that dream becoming reality.”

 

The Northern Territory Government is supporting the Territory Thunder team by providing funding of $200 000 a year for the next five years.

 

The Territory Thunder’s first game against Southport will be at TIO Stadium on April 4^th.

 

“I’d encourage Territorians to get along to the game and support our Territory boys against the traditional powerhouse of Queensland football.”
