The Territory Government has welcomed more than $7 million dollars in funding under Stage One of the Rudd Government’s stimulus package for social housing construction.
Territory Minister for Housing, Rob Knight said the $7.1 million funding injection will see 22 new homes built across the Territory, helping meet our housing needs.
“This will deliver real results for Territorians, protecting Territory jobs, our economy and improving our public housing stock,” Mr Knight said.

“The new dwellings will be six-star energy efficient, which means use less power and water and meet energy efficiency guidelines.”
Last month the Territory received more than $4 million under the stimulus package, enabling 136 public housing properties to be upgraded Territory wide.
Mr Knight said upgrades have already begun on 47 houses and units around the NT.
Work on the new dwellings is expected to be complete by early next year.
