Recreational anglers will soon have a floating pontoon to help launch their boats at
Fisheries Minister, Kon Vatskalis, said the new $670,000 pontoon will make it easier for people getting into or out of boats and should reduce the time taken to get onto the water.
“Fishing is an important part of our great lifestyle and this Government is working hard to make fishing even better in the Territory,” said Mr Vatskalis.
“Local company, Advance Civil Engineering Pty Ltd, has been awarded the contract to construct the floating pontoon which will be 70 metres long and 2 metres wide.”
“The new pontoon will be able to be used on tides as low as 1.5 metres which is the same as the ramp itself.”

Work on the pontoon is expected to start in two weeks and be completed in August 2009.
