Territory Team Aims for Hat Trick

The NT Tenpin Bowling Team for Athletes with a Disability today travels to Melbourne hoping to claim their third straight National title.

“It is fantastic to see these athletes represent the Territory and I wish them the best of luck,” said Minister for Sport and Recreation Karl Hampton.

“The Team of 15 bowlers – two from Alice Springs and 13 from Darwin – will attend the 2009 Tenpin Bowling Australian Disability Championships.

“With over 200 of the Australia’s best Tenpin Bowlers competing at the championships it will be a tough competition.

“I am sure they will represent the Territory with pride and perform their personal best.

“The team has for the last two years won the Tenpin Bowling State vs. State Handicap Challenge.

“These inspiring Territorians are hoping to take out the finals for the third year running; which would be a fantastic achievement for the Territory.

“Athletes will also compete in singles, doubles and the four team events at the championships.

“The team has been generously supported by their families, friends and Territory businesses.”

“To be able to defend this title would be such an honour for the team”, said Team Manager Michael Goodrich.

“Everyone in the team have all worked tirelessly to reach these heights.”
