Ross Park Upgrade Officially Opened

The recently upgraded facilities at Ross Park Oval were officially opened today by the Minister for Sport and Recreation Karl Hampton.

The Northern Territory Government provided a $500 000 Capital Grant to the Alice Springs Town Council to complete a number of upgrades to the facility.

“Ross Park is a fantastic facility and a great asset to the Alice Springs community,” Mr Hampton said.

“These upgrades include new sports ground lighting, improved change room facilities and a new clubroom for Football in Central Australia.

“We have also seen upgrades to the surface of the main pitch ensuring football in Alice Springs has a first class sporting facility.

“These improvements were today inspected by visiting officials from the Adelaide United Football Club who were in Alice Springs for the ‘Spirit of Football’ event.

“Ross Park Oval is the home of Football in Central Australia and these upgrades will ensure the continued growth of the sport in our region particularly within junior ranks.

“The new ground lighting will enable night games to be played year round along with the benefit of training in the cooler hours of the day during the hot summer months.

“The new club house will provide administrators, coaches and officials with an office and meeting facilities.”

“The Northern Territory Government is committed to providing opportunities for Territorians to actively participate in sport.”
