LAND RELEASE – GOOD FOR BUSINESS

The future of development in Darwin has been given a boost with work to start within weeks on a $16.4 million Territory Government expansion of the Darwin Business Park.

Chief Minister Paul Henderson said Darwin company DAC Enterprises had won the contract for a $14.5 million industrial land release project at the Park in Berrimah.

“We’re investing in the Territory’s future – more land and better facilities means more business and extra jobs,” Mr Henderson said.

The upgrade includes 18 lots in Darwin Business Park South and this industrial land release is expected to generate $32 million in sales and encourage millions more in business investment.

“The work is expected to take more than a year, with the first lots sold off the plan next year.”

Mr Henderson also announced another Darwin company, Ostojic, had won the tender for a $1.7 million project to improve the common usage area of the Business Park in preparation for INPEX and other major projects.

“The improvements to be done by Ostojic will include the construction of a hardstand area and surface drainage,” he said.

Another Territory company, Paradise Landscaping has been awarded a $220,000 tender for fencing to provide security around the area.

The $16.4 million in works represents the first stage of the Territory Government’s $28 million investment in developing the Business Park.

The Park is adjacent to East Arm Port and the rail freight terminal, making it an ideal location for a range of industries:

·        Oil and gas support services

·        Mining support, services and maintenance

·        Marine services and maintenance

·        Transport logistics

·        Engineering, fabrication and assembly of building and equipment
