“Since the EnvironmeNT Grants program began in 2004, the Northern Territory Government has provided more than $3 million to fund a diverse range of projects,” Mr Hampton said.
“This is the sixth year in which EnvironmeNT Grants have been made available to Territorians with 38 organisations or projects receiving funding.

“The Environment Centre NT (ECNT) will also receive $185,000 this year –fulfilling an election commitment - as one of eight organisations to receive operational funding totalling $425,000.
“On top of that funding, the ECNT will receive $10,000 to host the Territory’s first Top End Sustainability Fair in July next year, building on past event events such as the ECNT’s World Environment Day Expo.
“The Fair will promote sustainable goods and services, ranging from energy and water efficient products to environment rehab services and hybrid cars, as well as bringing together a wide range of stallholders, participants and speakers from diverse backgrounds and sectors.
“Today’s announcement comes on top of the $21,610 already provided for environmental school projects as part of this Government’s 2009 School EnvironmeNT Grants Program.
“The EnvironmeNT Grants Program supports projects and organisations in the Territory that aim to improve our management of the environment and natural resources so that we can protect the lifestyle we enjoy for future generations.”
