Plans for a new residential and tourist development for Alice Springs will be placed on public display next week.

The Northern Territory Government has approved the public exhibition of a proposal for a tourist and residential development at the former Melankas Lodge site in Todd Street.

The proposed development includes five buildings of about five storeys in height; 118 two and three bedroom residential and short stay apartments; commercial floor area including a proposed licensed venue.

Minister for Planning and Lands, Delia Lawrie, said the plans for the proposed development will be on public display at the Department of Planning and Infrastructure’s Alice Springs office, 1st Floor, Alice Springs Plaza for 28 days.

“I urge Alice Springs residents to view the plans and have their say about the proposed development,” Ms Lawrie said.

Following public display the application will be considered by the Development Consent Authority.
