October Business Month Begins

October Business Month was launched in Alice Springs today marking the start of a busy month of events happening around the Territory.

Business Minister, Dr Chris Burns, said this is the 15th year the October Business Month has been running and features a range of events and speakers.

“The Territory Government is committed to supporting business and the October Business Month gives people access to a range of information to help their business grow,” Dr Burns said.

“The latest Sensis Business Index results show Territory small and medium sized businesses are among the most confident in the nation and it is important the Territory Government holds events like this so businesses have access to more support to help them prosper.

“This year’s October Business Month features more than 100 events and has secured international and nationally recognised speakers.

“We listened to feedback from last year’s October Business Month participants - this helped develop the 2009 key themes - financial resilience, workforce upskilling, linking businesses and marketing.

“Events are happening in Darwin, Alice Springs, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Nhulunbuy giving businesses across the Territory an opportunity to attend.

“Workshops, seminars, industry forums, gala events and open days all feature on the October Business Month calendar.

“I encourage Territory businesses to come along and participate in the terrific events happening during October Business Month,” Dr Burns said.

Keynote speakers at October Business Month include Anh Do, Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, Martin Grunstein, Wendy Perry, Rick Allert AO, David de Garis and Dr Adam Fraser.
