Territory Housing Gardening Competition

The winners of the Territory Housing Gardening Competition in the Top End were this morning announced at the Jingili Water Gardens.

Minister for Housing Rob Knight was on hand to present the winners with their awards for the annual competition.

“The Public Housing Garden Competition has been an annual event in the Territory since 1997,” Mr Knight said.

“This year more than 50 tenants entered the competition in Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine, Pine Creek and Nhulunbuy.

“It has been great to see so many Territory Housing tenants put such effort into their gardens and take such pride in their homes.

The competition has been a great opportunity for tenants to showcase the hard work, time and effort they have put into their gardens and learn how to improve their skills, through feedback from judges.”

There were a number of categories for tenants to enter in each region including best house garden, best unit garden, best environmentally friendly garden, best recently developed/new garden and best communal/complex garden.

Entrants were judged on various criteria with winners taking home vouchers for local gardening stores, enabling further enhancement of their gardens.

Winners in Nhulunbuy and Katherine, including Pine Creek will be announced later in the month.
