Palmerston Quest Development Welcomed

The Minister for Planning and Lands, Delia Lawrie, today welcomed the announcement of Palmerston’s first large scale accommodation development.

During a visit to the site of the development on The Boulevard, Ms Lawrie said the Tomazos Group was undertaking the multi-million dollar development which includes a 10 storey building with 46 serviced apartments and a commercial and restaurant precinct.

“This is an exciting development that will put Palmerston on the map as well as encourage more tourists to visit,” Ms Lawrie said.

“The tourist industry injects $1.6 billion into the Territory economy a year. Palmerston is the gateway to many of the Territory’s natural attractions including Litchfield National Park and Kakadu and is ideally positioned for tourist accommodation.

“Once completed the 10 storey development will be a Quest apartment complex with 46 serviced apartments.

“The development will also provide a boost to the Territory economy with an expected 180 direct and indirect jobs created at the peak of construction.”

Ms Lawrie said land for the development had been Crown Land before being sold off earlier this year for commercial development.
