“Netball is extremely popular throughout the Territory and it is great to see the sport continuing to grow in our towns and regions,” Mr Hampton said.
“Sports such as netball bring the community together and help Territorians lead a happy and active lifestyle.
“The Territory Government is a strong supporter of netball and it is with great delight that today I announce Federal Netball Club is one of 44 organisations to receive funding from Round One of our 2009-10 Grass Roots Development Grant Program.

Mr Hampton said other organisations to share in $90,000 worth of Round One funding includes hockey, squash, basketball, cricket and pony club organisations in Alice Springs, as well as the Roper Gulf Shire Council and Central Desert Shire Council.
“Round Two of this year’s Grass Roots Development Grant Program will open next weekend with applications due by Friday, 4 December,” Mr Hampton said.
“I encourage all sport and recreation organisations to apply for funding towards projects aimed at increasing and improving participation as well as strengthening the capacity of sport and recreation organisations to deliver services and programs that make for a more active Territory.”
