Next steps for Johnston

The Territory Government will call on prequalified developers to submit offers for the first stage of the new suburb of Johnston at Palmerston East.

Minister for Planning and Lands, Delia Lawrie, said there had been strong informal interest in the land release and the Government is inviting  pre-qualified developers to bid for the development.

“The offer for sale will be open for two weeks and will ensure lots in the first stage of Johnston are available to Territorians as soon as possible,” Ms Lawrie said.

“The Government is confident developers for Johnston stage 1 will be contracted in the coming weeks.

“The first stage of Johnston will see 200 new housing lots released including 19 lots capped at $140,000 per lot for the affordable housing market.

“In addition the first stage will also include 11 multiple dwelling development providing up to 53 units to target the affordable housing market.”

Ms Lawrie said as part of the Housing the Territory strategy, the Government will continue to fast track land release at Palmerston East to help more Territorians into their own home.

“The development of Palmerston East is set to provide up to 3700 new housing lots over five years, providing new housing for around 15,000 people,” she said.
