The first 12 affordable housing lots set aside by the Northern Territory Government at the Palmerston suburb of Bellamack are now available.
Minister for Housing Rob Knight today announced the ballot process for the first 12 of 67 affordable housing lots.
“The Northern Territory Government is committed to delivering more affordable housing options, releasing more land and reforming public housing through the Housing the Territory strategy,” Mr Knight said.
“This affordable land release will provide lots suitable for two and three bedroom homes with house and land packages priced between $338 000 and $381 000.”
The lot sizes range between 480 and 578m2 and purchasers will have at least 5 house designs to choose from for each lot.
“We want more Territorians to own their own home and this land release will enable more Territory families access to affordable homes,” Mr Knight said.
“Bellamack is the first subdivision contracted by the NT Government to meet the requirement that 15% is allocated for affordable housing.”
To be eligible for an affordable housing lot at Bellamack home buyers must:
· be an Australian citizen aged 18 years or over
· not currently own a property in
· have pre-approval finance
· meet income limits as per
· agree to live in the property for two years.
The 5 star energy efficient houses are a great start for low to middle income earners I thank Bellamack and the builders Beare Homes, Abode New Homes and Killarney Homes for delivering these packages.
