Palmerston footy fans have an extra reason to cheer with the official opening of the Magpies Football Clubs new home ground today.
The new facility includes the reconstruction of the oval to Australian Football League (AFL) standards, the construction of an amenities building containing players changing rooms, public toilets and a canteen, and a scoreboard.
Minister for Sport and Recreation Kon Vatskalis said the first game at the brand new Palmerston Magpies home ground capped off a fantastic week for footy in the Territory.

“The opening of the Magpies home ground comes on top of the historic entry of the Tiwi Bombers into the NTFL and the signing of an agreement which secures 9 AFL games in the Territory over the next three years.”
Dr Scott Snyder, the executive director of CDU’s corporate services, said the university was delighted to facilitate the building of football facilities in Palmerston.
