Northern Territory Government Newsroom

The blue and gold army want you!

The Dyldam Parramatta Eels (Territory Eels) are ready to give Territorians a good show tomorrow night at TIO Stadium.

The Eels arrived in Darwin on Tuesday and have been busy visiting almost 30 schools in Darwin, Palmerston and the rural area, greeting fans in the Darwin CBD and Waterfront Precinct and spending time with junior NTRL clubs.

“Today the Eels helped promote road safety at Wulagi Primary School, showed their support for the Heart Foundation's Touch for Heart touch football competition in the CBD and visited the Sanderson Neighbourhood Activity Centre as part of their commitment through their agreement with the Northern Territory Government to promote rugby league and participation in sport as part of a healthy lifestyle,” Sport and Recreation Minister Gary Higgins said.

“Tonight the Eels will help 150 young local rugby league players hone their skills at a skills clinic at TIO Stadium, before an information night at the Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre on how to get the most out of running junior rugby league clubs.

“The Eels’ commitment to meaningful engagement with Top End rugby league fans and the broader sporting community is fantastic, and I hope we’ll see as many Territorians as possible joining the blue and gold army to support the Eels in tomorrow night’s match against Penrith Panthers.

“I’m looking forward to seeing Katherine product Luke Kelly lining up for the Eels at halfback tomorrow night, in what will be an evening of pride for Katherine with the Katherine High School team taking on Casuarina Senior College in the final of the under 16 Eels Cup prior to the big match, and the town’s NTRL club taking on Brothers in the first game of the evening.”

Tickets are still available for the match at TIO Stadium through Darwin Entertainment Centre www.yourcentre.com.au

Gates open at 3.15pm, curtain raiser matches start from 3.30pm and the main game will kick off at 7pm. Free buses will be operating to and from the game on regular bus routes to Marrara on presentation of NRL game ticket.
