Chief Minister of the Northern Territory
Chief Minister Adam Giles officially launched the 2016 Chief Minister's Northern Territory Export and Industry Awards last night at Crocosaurus Cove.
"The awards recognise outstanding achievements of NT exporters and industry leaders, from which the overall 'Exporter of the Year' is chosen," he said.
"This year will see an additional local award category included, the Industry Innovation Award, bringing the number of awards to eighteen.
"The award will recognise a Northern Territory business which has successfully implemented or commercialised innovative products, processes or services."
The Awards operate as a two-tier process, with exporters first achieving Territory distinction through the NT Chief Minister's Northern Territory Export and Industry Awards program.
Northern Territory winners will then progress as national finalists in the Australia Export Awards.
"As a finalist in the Australia Export Awards, Northern Territory Award winners will receive national recognition for their international success," Mr Giles said.
"I strongly encourage all Northern Territory exporter businesses and industry leaders to apply for the 2016 Chief Minister's Northern Territory Export and Industry Awards."
The NT Government works collaboratively with the Chamber of Commerce to build international trade relationships, encouraging best practice by supporting these awards.
The closing date to nominate is 12 August, with the Awards to be held on 22 September.
