Supercars Set to Light Up the City After Dark

After a successful first year, the Night Supercar Convoy is back again next week to activate the Darwin CBD in the lead up to the 2019 BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown.

The Territory Labor Government is continuing to transform Darwin city into a world-class tourist and cultural destination, which will create jobs for Territorians and support local business, through activations like the Night Supercars Transporter Convoy.

Officially kicking off the Supercars weekend, the popular Night Supercars Transporter Convoy will make its way through the streets of Darwin on Wednesday, 12 June from 4pm to 7.30pm. The city activations program will have something for all ages, with a range of exciting attractions and entertainment planned across Darwin and Palmerston until Friday, 14 June.

The night time arrival of the convey allows school children, families and people who do not work in Darwin CBD to get involved and enjoy the fun.

All members of the family will be catered for, with kids’ activities, racing simulators, a light projector show, stilt walkers, a jumping castle, photo booth, Mack the Truck activities and much more.

Members of public will also be able to enjoy a live music performance by Adelaide-based band Clearway, late night retail therapy and a range of delicious food and drink options, with restaurants and cafes open for take away dishes to enjoy in Raintree Park.

On Thursday 13 June, motorsports fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet their Supercars idols as part of a drivers’ signing session at Raintree Park from 11am to 1pm.

Aside from purchasing their favourite teams’ merchandise, Territorians and tourists will also be able to enjoy Robbie Maddison’s exciting stunt show and the much-anticipated Hot Wheels display to name a few.

Later that afternoon, Mindil Beach will host another drivers’ signing session, a Hot Wheels display, as well as a brand new stunt show involving the Territory’s own Outback Wrangler Matt Wright and internationally-renowned stuntman Robbie Maddison.

Wrapping up the city activations in the lead up to the 2019 BetEasy Darwin Triple Crown is a final stunt show at Palmerston Markets on Friday 14 June from 5.30pm involving Robbie Maddison and the Hot Wheels stunt team.
