15 More CBD Walls to Be Painted: Third Darwin Street Art Festival to Boost CBD

The Darwin Street Art Festival is returning for a third year in 2019, with 15 city walls to be transformed into masterpieces by nationally and internationally acclaimed street artists in September.

The festival, which will run from 5 September to 15 September with see artists converge on Darwin to brighten otherwise blank walls within the 2019 theme ‘Northern Wonders’.

The third annual event is sponsored by the Territory Labor Government as part of the Turbocharging Tourism stimulus package, which aims to increase visitation, support local businesses and jobs.

After the success of 2018, Proper Creative and Apparition Media once again join forces to deliver the third festival, with contributing artists such as Shaun Edwards of House of Darwin and Benita and Liam Milner of Luna Tunes with more artists to be announced in coming weeks.

Expressions of interest open today and run until 20 August for local artists which who to be involved with the festival, artists are urged to submit a sketch and a 100 word explanation of how their artwork relates to the theme via the website www.darwinstreetartfestival.com.au/apply-now.

An extensive program of community events supplement this year’s festival including children’s workshops, paint by numbers, festival hub and a street party to celebrate the completion of the festival in West Lane on Saturday, 14 September complete with cocktails and food trucks.
