Daly River Road Seal Extended

Great news for recreational fishermen with the popular Daly River Region to be boosted with $600,000 of road works to improve access to the area.

Infrastructure and Transport Minister, Delia Lawrie, said the last single seal of the Daly River Road will be extended and improved with work starting in a few months and expected to be completed by the end of the year.

“Daly River is a popular fishing spot for local and visiting anglers and traffic volumes peak in the dry season fishing period,” said Ms Lawrie.

“This work forms part of the Martin Government’s record roads budget of $180 million, which includes $57 million for repairs and maintenance.

“In peak periods up to 180 vehicles travel along the Daly River Road with most of those vehicles also towing boats.

“The upgrade to this busy stretch of road will improve safety for all.”

Ms Lawrie said by upgrading the road to two-lane sealed standard and also undertaking shoulder widening the wear and tear on vehicles and boat trailers will be reduced.

Work on the Daly River Road is expected to commence in September and be finished by Christmas.
