How good is the Territory! Share and win this Territory Day
1 June 2022
On 1 July each year Territorians have the opportunity to celebrate everything they love about the place we all call home. This year you could win a $2500 prize if you share what you love with us for Territory Day.
The theme for this year’s Territory Day is ‘How good is the Territory!’ and we’re asking Territorians to share images of what they love about the NT on their social media channels and via the Territory Day website.
The Territory is one of the most unique places in Australia, ranging from desert landscapes and the red dirt of the Red Centre, through to savannah woodlands, rocky escarpments and tropical islands floating in azure waters.
It is home to the oldest living culture on earth, fascinating flora and fauna, unique experiences and a rainbow of different languages and nationalities.
Your competition entry might be a photo of your favourite swimming hole, market dish, sunset viewing spot or fishing destination. Perhaps it’s your favourite coffee shop, beach walk, meeting point or star-gazing destination. Whatever it is, we want to see it, and we want to share it with as many people as possible to help them understand how amazing the Territory is.
You must live in the Territory to enter, and two winners, one from the Top End and one from the Red Centre, will each receive a voucher worth $2500, to spend at Tourism Top End and Tourism Central Australia respectively.
Details about Territory Day events will be confirmed soon. To find out more about how to enter the competition, visit www.territoryday.nt.gov.au [http://www.territoryday.nt.gov.au/]
Quotes from Chief Minister of the Northern Territory, Natasha Fyles
“Territory Day is a great day for everyone living and visiting here to celebrate what it means to be a Territorian."
“We are always treated to fantastic celebrations and events, both in the centres of Darwin and Alice Springs, but also in remote NT where some of the richest parts of Territory culture can be found."
“I’m looking forward to seeing everyone taking pictures about why they love the Territory for Territory Day."
“I hope everyone celebrating Territory Day this year has a safe, enjoyable and fun day.”
Quotes from Minister for Major Events, Paul Kirby
“The Territory is the kind of place that’s easy to celebrate every single day, but on July 1 we get to officially mark the anniversary of self government which occurred in 1978.”
“Alongside events and firework displays, this year we want you to show us your best Territory moments.”
“What brought you here? What made you stay? Share your photos with us for your chance to win $2500 to spend on incredible Territory tourism experiences.”
