The official opening today of the Zuccoli Sales and Information Centre and Display Village is set to offer more affordable housing to Territorians.
"The Northern Territory Government is committed to delivering affordable homes and a quality lifestyle for Territorians, with Zuccoli an important part of that plan," Chief Minister Adam Giles said.
"The more than 400 hectare suburb of Zuccoli is an example of the Territory Government's land release policy in action.
"The new Display Village in Zuccoli is part of the joint venture development between Urbex and the Land Development Corporation for development of Stage 1 of Zuccoli. When complete, Stage 1 of Zuccoli will deliver 900 homes for up to 2,700 people in Stage 1.
"With scenic streets and green open spaces, the Zuccoli Display Village is testament to Urbex's vision of the first stage of the master planned community designed in partnership with the Northern Territory Government's Land Development Corporation to provide a quality residential lifestyle.
"We can see the true potential of the suburb which will provide a diverse range of housing options, public amenities, schools, commercial centres, park land and conservation areas only 25 minutes from the centre of Darwin."
Land directly opposite the Display Village marks the location of the future community shopping village Zuccoli Plaza.
Rod Morris, Managing Director of the owner-developers of The RR Morriss Group, who also owns the Oasis Shopping Village in Palmerston, said he was pleased to be moving ahead with plans for the commercial centre.
"Zuccoli Plaza is perfectly positioned to connect with the Park. A plaza area will provide well designed spaces for residents and visitors to sit and enjoy the environment while our selection of tenants will provide for daily necessities," he said.
The suburb of Zuccoli is a multi-stage, master planned community that when complete will contain over 3000 homes for more than 7000 Territorians. It will also include two schools, two commercial centres, social housing and substantial open space including walking tracks and parks.
The Zuccoli Display Village will be open to the public from Friday 25 September.
