Delivering better health outcomes and jobs for Alice Springs

Office of the Chief Minister

Work will start today on $550,000 worth of renovations to Flynn Drive Health Centre in Alice Springs to improve capacity and care for patients at the Centre.

Member for Braitling Dale Wakefield said the upgrades would significantly improve patient experience and strengthen service delivery for the region.

“We believe all Territorians are entitled to access high quality health services – which this project will help deliver – and it also creates jobs,” Ms Wakefield said.

“Flynn Drive Health Centre is a widely accessed health facility in Alice Springs that offers a range of important health services, including early childhood, dental and counselling services.

“The upgrades include a new baby care room, clinic room and administrative office, upgrades to the foyer and waiting area and external works to improve disabled access.

“Local company MPH Carpentry and Construction are contracted for the project which will see 65 workers on site to deliver the upgrades.

“This project is a win for Alice Springs as it improves health services for locals, creates local jobs and provides a significant boost for the local economy.”

Upgrades include:

  • Construction of a new administrative office
  • A new baby care room
  • Conversion of an existing administrative office to a clinic room
  • Renovation of the foyer, reception and waiting area
  • External works including disabled access compliant ramps and handrails.

Construction is expected to take two months to complete.
