The Territory Labor Government
is providing Territorians with improved health facilities and better access to
high quality health care with upgrades to the Gove District Hospital Emergency
Department now complete.
The $10.7 million project created 35 local jobs and has seen upgrades to the Gove District Hospital Emergency Department and Specialist Outpatient Department.
The Minister for Health, Natasha Fyles, today joined the doctors and nurses at Gove District Hospital to tour the new departments before joining staff to officially open the facilities.
Services have expanded in ambulatory care including specialist outpatient services. The improvements will provide ease of access and improved functionality for both patients and the healthcare team.
The community was invited to tour the facility earlier this month at the Gove ED community day. Locals got a feel for the new facility before it opened for service and the feedback was extremely positive.
Specialist Outpatient Clinic opened to the public in August, followed by the opening of the new Emergency Department in September.
The Australian and Northern Territory Governments jointly funded
the redevelopment works.
