Chief Minister Michael Gunner has today announced the new Northern Territory Government Ministry.

Mr Gunner will take on the Business and Innovation portfolio, and will work with the business community to cut red tape as matter of priority.

In addition, he gains the new Defence Jobs portfolio. With the first stages of a $20 billion defence investment in the NT rolling out, the Chief Minister will take a lead role in ensuring local business and local jobs come first.

New Minister Paul Kirby will take on the Primary Industry and Resources portfolio.

Mr Kirby has years of experience working with the oil and gas industry and will has worked closely with Territory businesses since being elected in 2016.

Selena Uibo will be the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, along with her Education and Training portfolios. Ms Uibo brings a wealth of experience in remote communities to this important portfolio.

In addition to her Renewables portfolio, Dale Wakefield will also take on the new portfolio of Energy Policy. This will ensure a coordinated focus on renewables, climate change, gas policy and the transition to a lower carbon economy.

Natasha Fyles will have responsibility for the Arafura Games as the Territory gears up for the beginning of competition in May.

Deputy Chief Minister Nicole Manison adds Multicultural Affairs to her portfolios of Treasury and Police, Fire and Emergency services, and Environment Minister Eva Lawler adds Climate Change to her portfolios.

The additional Ministerial titles reflect community and stakeholder feedback to provide a clearer focus on what’s important to Territorians.

The Chief Minister has directed that no additional expenditure be incurred as a result of portfolio name changes.
