Office of the Chief Minister

Netball fans from across the country can officially reserve their seat in Darwin’s new multi-million dollar indoor netball stadium with tickets now on sale for the Suncorp Super Netball fixture.

Set to be held on Saturday, 8 June at 2.30pm ACST, the match will see home-side Adelaide Thunderbirds take on the Sunshine Coast Lightning.

The game, hosted by the Territory Labor Government as part of the $103 million Turbocharging Tourism stimulus package is expected to draw netball fans to the Top End from all over Australia.

Hosting the game has been made possible by the Territory Labor Government and Federal Government’s investment in the newly opened netball stadium in Marrara, which is capable of hosting international standard games.

Approximately 1.2 million viewers from all corners of the country will be tuning into the match on Channel Nine.

Tickets will officially go on sale at 2 pm ACST today, and people are urged to visit www.ntix.com.au/#!/events for more information or to buy tickets.

Quotes from the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Lauren Moss:

“We know these events help stimulate our economy by driving visitors here, creating local jobs and supporting local businesses.

“As a Government, we are extremely proud to bring professional sporting matches such as the Adelaide Thunderbirds versus the Sunshine Coast Lighting game up to the Territory.

“I urge people of all ages to mark Saturday, 8 June in their diaries, grab their tickets and come along to see some of Australia’s best netball players in action right here in Darwin.”
