Last chance to experience the light of Parrtjima 2021

Office of the Chief Minister

Parrtjima – A Festival in Light has delighted visitors for six nights, and there are just four nights left to experience the magic. The festival has recorded more than 12,000 attendances so far.

Visitors have had the chance to meet the artists, cook with bushfoods, work with textiles, paint with experts, learn about wood carving, listen to live music, and enjoy films and a Curator Tour at the Araluen Arts Centre.

The Merne Desert Dinner has emerged as a Parrtjima highlight where guests feasted on bushfoods with a modern twist under a canopy of outback stars.

They arrived at Sand Country at Alice Springs Desert Park to the sounds of the Hermannsburg Choir, then dined on delights including chicken parfait with lilly pilly jelly and native dukkah, smoked roo, and riberry and rosella sorbet.

Tom Falzon from Earth Sanctuary gave an astronomy talk that focused on both scientific and Aboriginal interpretations of the breathtaking night sky above.

The final four nights of the festival include Shellie Morris live on stage in front of the Ranges, a hip hop workshop with Dobby, metal sculpting with the Tapatjatjaka Art Centre, skateboard painting with Spinifex Skateboards, and more.

Parrtjima runs from 9-18 April 2021 and is a free event, but you must register at www.parrtjima.com.au
