Investing in Territory Film Industry

Office of the Chief Minister

The Territory Government continues to create jobs and invest in the NT screen industry  with round 2 of our Screen Grants COVID-19 program being awarded.

The grant program was launched last year and provides support to the Northern Territory screen sector to recover from the impacts of COVID-19.

CAAMA Productions and Bunya Productions, (who also produced “High Ground”) received $310,000 in project development and production finance funding for a new premium drama series Copping it Black.

Copping it Black will inject over $3 million into the local economy during production. The vast majority of the series will be in filmed in Alice Springs and the community of Hermannsburg.

A further five projects will share $40,000 in story development funding to support the development of unique Territory stories.

These include:

·         Tamarind Tree Pictures and Ambience Entertainment – Barrumbi Kids

·         Moogie Down Productions and Butter Media – The First Inventors

·         Fanomezana Angelo Razafimamonjy – Promised Land

·         David Carlyle Armstrong – Sakura Dawn (The Bombing of Darwin Feature Film)

·         Expanded Media – The Port (TV series about Darwin Harbour)

Creative Accomplice also received $20,000 in audience development funding for the Northern Territory Travelling Film Festival. The festival showcases outstanding short films and feature films from across the Territory, capturing the stories, culture and landscapes of our iconic region.
