Artists, dancers and musicians are helping students to set their creative sides free as the Artists in Schools program rolls out across the Territory this Semester.

The Territory Labor Government has invested $90,000 in the grant program towards building creative relationships between schools and the local arts and culture sector in the NT.

This year, 15 schools are participating in the initiative that allows students to learn skills and practices from local artists.

Artists in Schools encourages school partnerships within the wider community and practical involvement with visual and performing arts. It also enriches school art programs.

Projects this year include the creation of a street art history walk and a beat program to teach literacy through song writing, as well as printmaking, weaving, and performing arts.

The Artists in Schools grant program is a shared initiative between the Department of Education and Territory Families, Housing and Communities facilitated through Arts NT.
