Free Business Support for Territorians Impacted by Lockdown

Office of the Chief Minister

Territory businesses can now access free resources and business support thanks to a new program from the Territory Governments COVID-19 business support package.

The Immediate Business Acceleration Program (IBAP) is a free online support program to help Territory businesses survive and thrive during and after a lockdowns.

IBAP is part of the Territory Government’s broader suite of programs to help businesses recover, rebound and grow beyond COVID-19.

The program is an extension of the successful Business Acceleration Program run in the Territory by the Australian Centre for Business Growth and it is targeted at business owners, chief executive officers and managing directors of small and medium companies impacted by the Territory lockdown.

The program will give Territory business owners and managers access to expert advice on how to manage their company’s resources during disruptions such as the pandemic, and explore how other Territory owners and managers have turned a crisis into an opportunity.

IBAP is an initiative of the Territory Government and is delivered in collaboration with the Australian Centre for Business Growth, the Darwin Innovation Hub and new program partner, the Chamber of Commerce NT.

Businesses can register their interest from 6 September 2021 . The Immediate Business Acceleration Program runs until December 2021.

Quotes from the Minister for Small Business, Paul Kirby

“While we are moving forward in our recovery from COVID-19, we know the recent lockdowns were tough for some businesses and that’s why we are doing everything we can to keep business ticking over and Territorians in jobs.”

“That’s why we are doing everything we can to keep business ticking over and Territorians in jobs.

“We are putting jobs first and programs such as this will give small businesses a leg-up in the evolving economic climate.

“By investing in this program we are investing in our Territory businesses – helping them become more resilient to the uncertainties of COVID-19.”

Dr Jana Matthews, ANZ Chair in Business Growth and Director of the Australian Centre for Business Growth

“We know that more company owners would be able to survive and grow if they only knew how.

“The 27 digital resources we are creating have been designed to enable NT business owners to learn the basics of company survival and growth: how your company makes money; how to generate revenue faster and be more profitable; how to find the customers who are mostly likely to buy your products and services, and what tactics to use to market and sell to them; how to create a culture that attracts and retains the kinds of employees who will enable the company to grow; how to manage the company and yourself through pandemics, lock-downs, and accelerated growth.

“We’re delighted to share our tested and proven strategies for survival and growth in new digital formats, which means this knowledge and information will be available to anyone, anytime.

“We look forward to interviewing some of the business owners and executives we’ve worked with in the Northern Territory who are willing to share their experiences and lessons learned with other business owners and their teams.”
